I'm always on the lookout for interesting appetizer recipes -- we entertain a lot. The recipes in this book range from hot to cold, old favorites like mini pizzas to really different ideas, such as phyllo cups with several different fillings. This book is BEAUTIFULLY photographed and the recipes are not so complex as to be daunting. I particularly liked the suggestions on creating interesting shapes. Visually the appetizers are simply gorgeous.

I bought this as a joke for my grandfather who loves hot sauce. It's no joke. He said it's hotter than the "normal" stuff he uses. "Normal stuff" to him would reduce other grown men to tears. Use with caution.

This book is mouthwatering and has many recipes in it which are fairly easy to cook. Even the most diehard carnivores will be impressed!

Bland and boring - Craig -
My wife and I tried cooking out of this cookbook on the advice of a friend but gave up after trying four different recipes.

We tried:
* Wild rice, mushroom and sui choy saute (2/10)
* Garlic and lemon chickpeas with mixed winter greens (1/10)
* Potato, cheddar and green onion rosti (8/10)
* Potato, yam and goat's cheese gratin (3/10)

Only the rosti was tasty, but the recipe was nothing more than what you could find on the internet. I'm certain that the gratin recipe was untested; it called for 4lb of vegies with only 1/2 cup of goat's cheese, so as you can imagine it wasn't very cheesy.

My biggest complaints are that
1. The recipes use weights instead of measures (how many potatoes are there in 2lb)?
2. There are no time approximations
3. The results are bland.

My recommendation is that you skip this and try either of these books.

An excellent book for travelers that are not in a hurry. Anyone who loves "road-trips" should find this quite helpful in locating the "local" hangouts for delicious dining. We're looking forward to our annual summer trip...This will make it even more exciting!!
